So this is me, eating a donut from VooDoo Donuts in Portland, OR with no regrets.
Each of you should use whatever gifts you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. -1 Peter 4:10

About AmeliaSo I'm Amelia! I've spent the last year working in marketing and communications for the Episcopal Diocese of Albany, its youth ministry Beaver Cross, and retreat center Christ the King Center. Before that I earned my BA in Politics and Religion with a focus on Islam and International Law from Marlboro College and my MBA from Clarkson University. I'm an avid runner and baker, and my favorite place to chill is definitely a coffeeshop with a good chai tea latte. But more defining than any of this is my faith. My faith lays the ground work for why I do what I do.
I grew up in the church; my father was an Episcopal priest, and the church was the family business. But my faith is not my father's. My faith is my own. After leaving my home parish, I became a member of St. Luke's, Cambridge NY, a small town parish with a huge heart for its members and its community. Throughout my childhood and adult life, I have felt the presence of God at work in my life and his call upon it. It is the faith in the power of Christ's death and resurrection for all humanity and creation that inspires me to use my life to serve others. Your next question is probably "So where ARE you going?" Great question! I can finally share that I will be spending a year serving as a communications assistant for the Anglican Communion Office in London! What does that mean? Primarily, I will be managing social media and sharing stories of God at work around the world. In his first letter, Peter addresses the followers of Christ to use whatever gifts they have to serve others and bring glory to God: Each of you should use whatever gifts you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10. During my time with YASC and in London, I will be doing just this. I will be dedicating my background and passion for communications to the building up of the Body of Christ. |
Be a Part of My Ministry!
Though I will be getting on an airplane alone in the fall, I am not doing this mission alone. I go with Christ, and with each and everyone of you through prayer! There are some other tangible ways that you can be involved, such as signing up to my email list where you can receive updates to this blog, prayer requests, and Biblical reflections. Donations are another way to be involved!
